KEY POINTS
- Interesting uptrends in today's Scans: Black Cat Syndicate (BC8), Boab Metals (BML), Benz Mining (BNZ), Dreadnought Resources (DRE), Electro Optic Systems (EOS), Golden Horse Minerals (GHM), Locksley Resources (LKY), LTR Pharma (LTP), Vault Minerals (VAU).
- Interesting downtrends in today's Scans: Audinate (AD8), Accent (AX1), Clinuvel Pharma (CUV), Domino's Pizza (DMP), GQG Partners (GQG), Kogan.Com (KGN), Lindsay Australia (LAU), Perpetual (PPT), REA Group (REA), Treasury Wine (TWE), Woodside Energy (WDS).
The S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Index (XSO) is comprised of companies included in the S&P/ASX 300 (XKO) index, but not in the S&P/ASX 100 (XTO) index. According to the ASX, this index provides "a benchmark for small-cap investments". FYI, the market capitalisation of stock number 101 in the XKO is ~$5.3 billion – so that's hardly very "small" in my opinion! I get it... it's small compared to say, Commonwealth Bank of Australia's (CBA) $285 billion!
Today's Uptrends Scan list reflects the runaway bull market that's developing ASX small cap stocks. Of the 84 stocks I've shortlisted as high-quality uptrends of interest today, 69 have a market capitalisation of less than $5 billion, and around half have a market capitalisation of less than one-tenth of that (i.e., $500 million).
ChartWatch ASX Scans does not discriminate based on company size, simply, it aims to find the best trends full stop! So, I note the following stocks that may be considered closer to the definition of "micro cap" in today's Uptrends Scan list that have a market capitalisation of less than $100 million:
Golden Horse Minerals (GHM) |
|---|
Vertex Minerals (VTX) |
Boab Metals (BML) |
West Coast Silver (WCE) |
Broken Hill Mines (BHM) |
LTR Pharma (LTP) |
G50 Corp (G50) |
For those who prefer not to pick individual stocks, but rather favour investing in an exchange traded fund (ETF) that targets their desired portfolio thematic, there's also the BetaShares Australian Small Companies ETF (SMLL) for consideration today.
Changing topic, although to a stock that was a very small cap when it was first identified as a Feature Uptrend, Locksley Resources (LKY) has become ChartWatch ASX Scans' latest "10 bagger" 🏆. First tipped here at a closing price of just 4.9 cents on 23 May, the stock had grown to 49 cents by Friday's close (it hit an intraday high of 53 cents). Consider that on 23 May, LKY had a market capitalisation of just $12 million! 🤏
LKY was featured 7 more times since that initial appearance, generally at much lower prices than Friday's close. If you happened to get on board as a result of ChartWatch ASX Scans, please shoot us an email to [email protected] – we'd love to hear from you! 👂
Welcome to my ChartWatch Daily ASX Scans series. Here, I present scan lists based on my trend following technical analysis methodology. My goal is to alert you to the best uptrends and downtrends on the ASX.
Feel free to get your favourite AI to convert the tables below into lists you can upload to your favourite trading platform like TradingView. Then you'll be able to skip from chart to chart and quickly and easily see the best uptrends and downtrends on the ASX.
Some investors prefer to buy those stocks in strong uptrends, and avoid, sell, or short sell those stocks in strong downtrends – but how you use the lists is really up to you!
Note, many stocks in both lists have appeared there many times before. As long as they keep meeting my criteria – they'll keep appearing. But note, there won't be any notifications when they don't – so you'll have to do your own research on when a particular trend changes!

Important considerations when using the ChartWatch Daily ASX Scans:
1. The future is unknown. Anything can happen to change the trends in the lists above. A stock in a perfect uptrend or downtrend may not remain that way by the close of trading today. 2. These lists are not exhaustive, they are curated by Carl. You will find that certain stocks might not appear in a particular list on consecutive days but might reappear when Carl feels it deserves to return to the list. 3. This is not a recommendation service, merely an aid to help you better understand the workings of Carl’s technical analysis model in a practical way. Carl will not alert you to stocks that have dropped off a list because their trend has changed – it's up to you to apply the criteria to determine why a particular stock might not still be included. 4. This is general, educational information only – so always do your own research!!!
