WHAT TO WATCH TODAY

  • A massive reversal: Wow, that oil price reversal will go down in the history books. This was the largest reversal on record (excluding the 20-21 April 2020 move where prices went negative). Pretty much all commodities off session lows (e.g. gold down 0.6% vs. low of -3.0%) and yields finished red (e.g. Aussie 10-year spiked as much as 11 bps to 5.00%, finished the session down 3 bps to 4.855%). Volatility remains elevated, but an encouraging overnight session. This is why you often see some of the market's best and worst sessions take place right next to each other. Indices and stocks still have a lot of work cut out for them after such a destabilising move, with many now back below the 50-day moving average and breaking below recent trading ranges.
