What To Watch Today
Yields getting spicy: Wednesday's hotter-than-expected Aussie CPI print has pushed local yields back to uncomfortable levels, with the 2-year up 15 bps over the past two sessions to 4.70% and the 10-year up 11 bps to 5.08%. Markets now put a 25 bp hike at the RBA's September meeting at roughly 50-50, and have fully priced one by November. Yield-sensitive and consumer-facing sectors bore the brunt on Thursday, notably Discretionary (-3.1%), Staples (-1.4%) and Real Estate (-1.4%). Those same sectors fell around 1% on Wall Street overnight despite the bumper Nvidia result, which might also put some rotation at play.
Software: The iShares Expanded Tech-Software ETF rallied 7.7% to its highest level since November 2025, powered by a blowout result from Salesforce (+22.5%). SAP (+4.4%), Adobe (+5.7%) and Atlassian (+10.1%) all joined the move higher, a possible tailwind for local tech names today.
