ASX TODAY

Hi there! I've been trailing a new blog format – live coverage of company announcements, economic updates and key market-related data. The posts will try to give you as much context into announcements (e.g. how did the earnings perform vs. consensus, what's the market positioned for etc.) It covers what you'd see in this section.

The blog format is in a trial phase, so you will have to manually refresh for the latest updates. Expect a high volume of posts pre-market and more periodic updates throughout the day. Show it some love and let me know if it reads.

WHAT TO WATCH TODAY

  • ASX 200 makes a clear move to all-time highs: Futures are up, pointing to a clear move into record highs. Ten out of eleven US sectors finished higher overnight, with sectors like Energy, Discretionary, Health Care and Telcos all up more than 1.0%.

  • NextDC, Metcash: These two stocks gained 5.1% and 3.5% respectively on Tuesday. NextDC announced another utilisation update, highlighting contract momentum in Malaysia. While Metcash provided an FY25 guidance upgrade that was slightly ahead of consensus expectations. Wouldn't be surprised to see analysts slightly lift their earnings forecasts and target prices today.

  • Uranium, Gold weakness: Bit of a pullback for these two strong trending sectors, with the respective ETFs down 3.2% and 1.3% overnight.

BROKER MOVES

  • Beach Energy downgraded to Neutral from Buy; target cut to $1.35 from $1.40 (UBS)

  • SiteMinder initiated Outperform with $6.09 target (MQG)
