Cyber warfare legend and newly retired Israeli cyber boss joins Security Matters

Security Matters Limited (ASX: SMX) has appointed Mr Yigal Unna to the company’s Advisory Board.

A 30-year veteran in the Israeli security apparatus, Mr Unna was most recently the Director General of the Israel National Cyber Directorate (INCD), reporting directly to the Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

Mr Unna has held several roles within signals intelligence (SIGINT) and  cyber positions combining intelligence, R&D and operations together with policy and capacity building.

Prior to becoming the Director General at INCD, Mr Unna was the Head of the SIGINT-Cyber Division in the Israeli Security Agency (“Shin-Bet”) directly under the Director General.

Mr Unna was responsible for national cyber defence and critical infrastructures security,  intelligence collection and operation.

Unna to forge links with US Administration

Following the announcement of Security Matters joining NextCycle Michigan’s membership - which addresses the automotive industry, and as part of Security Matters’ deployment in  North America - Mr Unna will be tasked with establishing the company’s relationships with the US Administration relating to Cyber Security and the large American original equipment manufacturer (OEM) companies.

“I am delighted to join the SMX team, having seen the company grow towards its commercialisation phase.” said Mr Unna who holds an MBA and BA in History and Management from Tel Aviv University.

“I believe the SMX capability of combining the supply chain challenges from cyber hardware to transparency and anticounterfeit, is one of great necessities to the American electronic industry. I believe American OEMs will be adopting the SMX technology platform in a large and substantial way.”
