Mr Zhang is the founder of Star Combo and has a background in the pharmaceutical industry. After graduation from university, Star worked for 10 years at a medical research company in China which produced hard gel capsules, tablets and injections. While there, he pioneered the extraction and purification of hyaluronic acid, important as a lubricant in ocular surgery. Furthermore, he developed methods to separate low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, which is used in cosmetics. Star then immigrated to New Zealand, where he studied Commerce at the University of Auckland for one year. Upon returning to Australia, Star incorporated Star Combo in 2004 to address the need for high quality and affordable Australian-made health foods in the market.
