Mr Burgess was previously a non-executive director of various subsidiaries of ETF Securities Limited. Previously, from August 2002 until June 2006, Mr Burgess worked for Investor Resources Limited providing financial and corporate governance consultancy services to Investor Resources Limited and related companies. Mr Burgess has also acted as chief financial officer of Wizard Information Services Pty Limited, held senior positions within the Australian Department of Finance and has been the internal auditor at Normandy Mining Limited.
