Mr Chester has served as a company director in Australia and in Singapore for the past twelve years, since retiring from the Australian Public Service in 2012. He joined the Board of Civmec on 2 November 2012 and is the Chairperson of the Nominating Committee. He was previously a senior Australian Government official and diplomat, serving in Washington, Brunei and Singapore. He spent five years as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and, prior to his retirement from the public service, held the role of Australia's High Commissioner to Singapore.
