Mrs Harris is the former Chairwoman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board and a former Nevada State Senator. Representing Nevada's Ninth District, Mrs Harris Chaired the Senate Education Committee and was a member of the Senate Judiciary, Finance, Education, and Commerce, Labor & Energy Committees. Mrs Harris is also a former member of the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCGLS), an association of lawmakers from across the United States, and formerly chaired the Responsible Gaming Committee and served as Treasurer. Mrs Harris is currently a Distinguished Fellow, Gaming & Leadership at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas International Gaming Institute, with an emphasis on the study of sports betting. She is also member of the Risk and Compliance Committee.
