Commodities
Zinc (Zn) is a slightly brittle metal at room temperature and has a silvery-greyish colour.
It's the fourth most common metal in use, trailing only iron, aluminium, and copper, with an annual production of about 13 million tonnes. It's commonly sourced all over the world, with large deposits occurring in China, Australian and Peru.
Zinc is commonly used to produce steel, batteries, and to produce brass and bronze. It should not be mistaken for the vitamins supplement, which nutritionist may recommend.
The zinc spot price is quoted daily on the London Metals Exchange (LME).
