Tin is a chemical element with the atomic number 50. It's a silvery metal with a faint yellow hue, and exhibits soft, malleable, and ductile properties. About half of all tin produced is used for soldering, with other uses including, plating, bronze alloys, and tin chemicals.
The first use of Tin was dated back to 3500 BC, however the person credited with the discovery of tin was Peter Durand, who was granted a patent, by the British government in 1810.
Tin can be found all over the world, with the biggest producers being China, Indonesia and Myanmar.
The price is quoted daily on the London Metals Exchange (LME). Other tin contract markets include the Kuala Lumpur Tin Market (KLTM) and Indonesia Tin Exchange (INATIN).
