Palladium
Palladium is a soft silver-white metal that resembles platinum. It’s the least dense of the platinum group metals, and has the lowest melting point. Other metals in the platinum group include rhodium, ruthenium, iridium and osmium.
Palladium is used in electronics, dentistry, medicine, hydrogen purification, chemical applications, groundwater treatment, and jewellery.
Russia was the largest producer of palladium in 2020 with 43% of global production, followed by South Africa with 33%. The market has been in an annual supply/demand deficit for several years now and the supply of palladium tightens up.
The spot price of Palladium is updated daily and is available on the London Metals Exchange (LME). It's possible to gain exposure to Palladium on the ASX through companies in the table below, of through the Physical Palladium ETF (ETPMPD).
