The TGME Underground Project capitalizes on 130 years of mining history and underground development. Phase-1 of the project includes 3 mines – Frankfort, CDM, and Beta. Theta’s goal is to simply extend the ore drives and stopes of existing mine’s complex to extract high-grade gold ore for processing at our gold plant.
The currently Probable Ore Reserve is 419,000 which was included in the mine schedule for the TGME Underground Project. Currently, there are 3.5 Moz of global underground inferred mineral resource across the ground holdings that have potential to be converted into Proven/Probably Ore Reserve as exploration sampling, drilling, and underground development is extended into new zones of gold reefs.
Theta has completed a Prefeasibility Study (PFS) on the first three mines as a demonstration that these large, narrow, tabular reefs systems can be mined with modern mechanized mining. The PFS showed strong project economics with a short payback period of 13 months from first gold and AISC of US$905/oz at a modest gold price assumption of just US$1570/oz.
Theta intends to explore its massive 620 km² ground holding across the Eastern Transvaal Goldfield with 43 historical mine under management to be systematically explored or evaluated. The TGME Phase 1 Underground project only includes three mines – Frankfort, CDM and Beta.
Phase 2 of the underground project will include Rietfontein, followed by Vaalhoek and Glynn’s Lydenburg Mine bringing a total of six mines into production over the next 5 years. Resource and Mine reserves are expected to continually grow through investigating/rediscovery of these historic mines and re-evaluating/exploring for their extended orebodies and reef systems.
The first underground project which may be developed in the south is Rietfontein, subject to confirmation of reserves. The project is currently undergoing a prefeasibility study expected to be completed late 2021.
Rietfontein quartz reef is near vertical, sitting in a 16 km long structure which has been mined and partly drilled over 3.5 km. Rietfontein sits in Archean Granite below the East Transvaal sediments.
Currently Rietfontein has registered JORC Resource of 2.88Mt @ 8.42g/t Au for 780Koz (31% Indicated, 69% Inferred)
Successfully secured a secured bond and equity funding for a total of A$10.6 million. The funds will be applied towards advancing the TGME gold project’s environmental and water studies/approvals, early trial mining & bulk sampling programs, and to progress the Beta/Frankfurt/CDM mines’ DFS and potentially deliver mineral reserve upgrades.
